Not-for-profit event for the benefit and empowerment of Aboriginal girls.
Come and join us for a fun day of AcroYoga at SAMA Studio in Armidale. AcroYoga blends yoga postures and philosophy with the healing touch of Thai yoga massage and the strengthening elements of acrobatics. It is a progressive system that includes two forms of flying: acrobatic (solar) and therapeutic (lunar).
Learning to trust, a clear and non-confrontational communication, the experience of taking a risk, providing support and learning to receive are the main emotional benefits of AcroYoga.
About this workshop
During this Saturday we will feature a beginners AcroYoga intensive workshop in which we will explore the basic elements of the practice. We will kick off with exploring the more dynamic aspects of AcroYoga (solar), where both parties base and flyer work actively together. We will enhance balance, practice inversions, work with strength elements and create a short yet dynamic AcroYoga flow.
From here we will move on to explore the more therapeutic benefits of the practice (lunar), where the flyer is relaxed and passive. We will explore the power of gravity as a healing technique. We will deepen into trusting and letting go and we will discover our healing powers through giving and receiving Thai yoga massage.
Throughout the day we will work in the roles of flyer, base and spotter (safety person).
This workshop is designed for complete beginners. No previous experience is necessary in Yoga, acrobatics or Thai massage. Just come with an open mind, either by yourself, with a partner or bring a friend. No partner is necessary to join the workshop as we will all work together in teams!
Please note that these workshops are not suitable for pregnant women.
Participation is at one’s own risk.
